Background: Back in the day we didn't have too much. Our families couldn't always get us the gifts we wanted, and we struggled to keep up with the MTV princesses on "Super Sweet 16." The attitude of never having it created the drive to hustle until we could have anything we wanted. Now every birthday is lit, every champagne glass is full, and every stripper is fully naked. Fortunately, Biggie described it perfectly in "Juicy" so we wouldn't have to brag too much.

Juicy was the debut single of the legendary Brooklyn rapper The Notorious B.I.G aka Biggie aka Big Poppa. It was released in 1994 ahead of Biggie's first album Ready To Die. He details his life prior to entering the hip hop world as a drug dealer running the Brooklyn streets, simply trying to make a name for himself. He addresses the fights he had with his mom and overcoming negative stereotypes that continue to exist about black men.

The video showed off a lavish lifestyle that set the tone for all-out luxury hip hop videos that came to define the genre in the next two decades. Even a young Puffy (Puff Daddy), now P. Diddy, simply chillin in his swim trunks. At the time this video dropped, it was unique the contrast it displayed between the street life and the sweet life. Let's just hope Biggie is still living like this everyday in heaven. RIP BIG.

We might've not had spectacular birthdays while growing up, but the birthdays we celebrate today are making up for every gift that was left unpurchased, every girl left unkissed, and every candle missing from the cake.
