The show centers around a 12-year-old boy, Will Byers, who vanishes mysteriously. Will's frantic mother, Joyce, searches for him while Police Chief Jim Hopper launches his own investigation. Will's friends Dustin, Mike, and Lucas discover a psychokinetic girl named Eleven aka El, who claims to know Will's location. The show's cast includes stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Cara Buono, and Matthew Modine.
The soundtrack of the show stands out as it is heavily based on 1980s sound with an extensive use of synthesizers. It was composed by Michael Stein and Kyle Dixon of the electronic band Survive.
